Students will gain hands-on experience using industry-standard dispatch software, learn emergency communication protocols, and develop the critical decision-making skills needed in high-pressure situations.
Class Dates are Tuesday and Thursday Evening from 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Emergency Medical Responder BSC 7126 VA01W

An Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course provides foundational training to perform immediate, lifesaving medical care. It teaches students to assess patients, manage trauma and medical emergencies, and assist higher-level EMS personnel before an ambulance arrives.
This hybrid course will meet in person at the Kaskaskia College Vandalia Education Center on the following Saturdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm
July 11 & 25 and August 8 & 22 The remainder of the course work will be online.
OSHA 10 Hour Construction BSC 9211 BI01D

This 10-hour course provides workers with essential knowledge of job site safety and OSHA regulations. Participants will learn how to identify, avoid, and prevent common workplace hazards. Upon successful completion, students will receive their OSHA 10-Hour Construction Industry Outreach card, recognized nationwide.
This program is made possible by a workfore training grant from the Illinois Community College Board which helps offset the cost of the training.
Industrial Tech Career Exploration COED 5004 CR01D

Get ready for creativity, technology, and high-speed fun! Students will work one-on-one with the Industrial Technology instructor to build their own pinewood style derby cars. This workshop will provide students with the opportunity to work with a CNC (computer numerical control) machine while also assembling and shaping their derby cars. After customizing their cars, students will race them in an exciting final competition where one builder will take home the grand prize.
This class is limited to 12 students, age 9-12 years. Registration closes on July 6, 2026.

The class wraps up with a relaxed fiesta where kids can show off what they’ve learned and celebrate their new skills with family!

The Mental Health Magic program is a one-of-a-kind experience. This specific program is not being presented anywhere else in the country. Professor Longhair, AKA Randy Thompson, B.A., MHP, has been a community mental health counselor for 35 years. He applies his experience and knowledge about mental health topics and blends that with his interest in performing Magical Illusions. In this class, magic tricks will be performed and then the mental health concept behind the illusions will be discussed briefly by Randy. Then, a group discussion will follow. This is a fun, interactive, and professionally guided approach for the discussion of serious mental health issues. The topics include Problem Solving, Communication, Perceptions, Self Esteem, Coping With Bullying, and Grief, Change, and Loss. He has presented this for several years with great success. Now is the perfect time for children and teens to learn and practice ways to feel more comfortable with expressing their thoughts and feelings about the emotions that they experience in a safe and supportive atmosphere with professional guidance.

Designed for ages 7–12, this class helps improve concentration and fine motor skills while making art approachable and fun.
CLASS FULL! Robotics 101 with LEGO® WeDo Education, ages 6-13 yrs CKICK 5135 TR01D

Students will build LEGO® creations from WeDo® Education, turning them into a robot, programmed to do exactly what they tell it to do. Robotics 101 uses drag and drop icon-based programming and offers an introduction into the fun of building with LEGO® Bricks. Additionally, the students will face the challenge of computer programming some pretty awesome robots that will equip them to succeed in a technology-based marketplace. They will also have fun playing camp style games and a few LEGO® building challenges. Get your student ready for a fun, action-packed week that combines real-life skills with real-kid fun! Each student will also take home a LEGO® mini figure.
