Summer Career Exploration Camp: Welding Workshop
Join us for a hands-on Welding Career Exploration Camp, where students ages 12–18 will learn the basics of MIG welding in a fun and safe environment. Over the course of two mornings, participants will receive expert instruction and gain practical skills while building their very own rocket stove.
- Introduction to MIG welding safety and techniques
- Guided construction of a fuctional rocket stove
- All materials and safety gear provided
- Students take home their completed rocket stove
No prior welding experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm! Space is limited, so register early to reserve your spot.

Students will explore various careers in healthcare including Dental Assisting, Health Information Technology, Paramedicine, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiologic Technology and Sonography, Nursing and Respiratory Therapy. Spend time in each program and have the option for extra time with the program of your choice. This course will be held in the Nursing Education Center and is made possible with support from the PATH Grant. Lunch will be provided.

Criminal Justice Career Exploration
Get ready for an action-packed morning as we dive into the exciting world of criminal justice! In this hands-on session, students will explore the entire justice process—from arrest to sentencing. They'll take part in investigating a mock crime scene, dusting and lifting fingerprints from objects, and even fingerprinting classmates using real techniques.
Participants will learn the importance of writing an effective investigative report and understand the crucial role of testifying in court. We’ll also discuss different sentencing options and how decisions are made in the justice system.
By the end of the morning, students will walk away with a new perspective on careers in criminal justice—and their very own fingerprint kit to take home and keep the learning going!

Get your hands dirty and your gears turning at this exciting Automotive Technology Career Exploration event! Designed for students ages 11–15, this hands-on session introduces the basics of car care and vehicle maintenance in a fun, engaging environment.
Held in Kaskaskia College’s brand-new Automotive Lab, participants will learn the fundamentals of automotive technology—including how to check fluids, identify engine components, and even take part in a real oil change. Guided by experienced instructors, students will explore what it’s like to work in the automotive industry and get a glimpse into future career opportunities.
Perfect for young car enthusiasts or anyone curious about how things work under the hood!

Getting Started in Cyber Defense & Security Career Exploration Camp
1 day class Wednesday July 9 from 9:00am to 12:00pm
This interactive hands-on boot camp will provide attendees with firsthand experience of how hackers hack computer systems. Demonstration of core tools and basics will be covered, attendees will participate along and complete activities on computer systems. An authorized virtual machine target will be used in which you will walk right through the entire hacking process from start to finish. The result will be gaining access to the target machine through discovery methods and cracking tools. Attendees should be successful in gaining access to the authorized target system without knowing anything about it up front.
Students who are considering getting into career fields associated with Cybersecurity and Cyber Defense should attend this dynamic boot camp. All attendees will gain valuable insight into the challenges in this field as it is related to defeating hackers and what can sadly easily happen when quality cybersecurity is not followed. All attendees successfully completing the series of challenge laboratories while learning will earn a "1st Hacking Project" digital ribbon.
All attendees should identify that in order to provide adequate protection of computing systems and devices, we must also know how to divide and conquer them to achieve this goal. Penetration testing is a required workforce job requirement. Gaining first-and experience with this will assist anyone in making well-informed decisions regarding entering this exciting career field.
