with Dillion Whitten
Shibori is a Japanese resist-dyeing technique similar to tie-dye that uses folding, twisting, stitching, or binding to create intricate patterns on fabric before dyeing. While traditional shibori often uses indigo dye, modern versions can be made with a variety of colors and fabrics like cotton, silk, or hemp. Popular techniques include Arashi (pole-wrapping), Itajime (folding and clamping), and Kanoko (tying with rubber bands).
